L'ambiente palestinese ancora è una vittima del conflitto continuo che presenta nella regione. Ciò accade malgrado il fatto che, come Palestinese stessimo provando ceaselessly a migliorare la situazione ambientale ed a sormontare alcuni dei bisogni interessati cruciali nella zona secondo la capienza tecnica e finanziaria possibile già attuale. La fauna selvatica che del Palestine la società (PWLS) si preoccupa dirigere, di riabilitazione e di conservazione di molte specie che risiedono nella zona mentre promuovono le attività di ricerca così come la conservazione di biodiversity urgentemente ha dovuto per accertare il successo del sustainability dell'ambiente di alta qualità. Un campo più cruciale a che diamo risalto sopra è consapevolezza del pubblico che può di più essere promossa attraverso gli ecologhi ed il pubblico d'istruzione e d'addestramento. Sguardo di PWLS appena nelle attività ambientali interessate continuanti nella stazione della Verifica e Controllo della fauna selvatica de Jericho come ci impegniamo seriamente per compiere già le attività proposte putdown. Speriamo che tutti gli agenzie ambientali e paesi costituenti un fondo per del donatore li aiutino ad assicurare la situazione ambientale migliore e il sustainability regionale.

It is a known fact that Palestine contains a great wealth of biodiversity resources in terms of the number of species, ecosystems, and landscapes.

Although considered small in terms of landmass, Palestine displays a wide variation in elevations and geology, leading to a broad range of habitats, which is reflected in a high diversity of plants and animals.

This diversity is needed for humanity to survive. People all over the world depend on plants and animals for food, medicine, and raw materials to manufacture clothing and building materials. Species and ecosystems regulate our climate, clean our freshwater, regulate and clean atmospheric gases, treat our waste, generate and clean our soil, recycle nutrients, and pollinate our crops. In other words, at no cost to us, biodiversity supports the human being.

When there is less diversity in nature, ecosystems become less productive.

Species and biological communities have difficulty adapting to change, but humans suffer too. Economic opportunities and the quality of life of future generations are put at risk.

Yet it has been asserted that virtually all the earth’s ecosystems have been dramatically transformed through human actions, and ecosystems continue to be converted for agricultural and other uses. It has been said that the current loss of biodiversity and the related changes in the environment are now occurring faster than ever before in human history and there is no sign of this process slowing down. Many animal and plant populations have declined in numbers and geographical spread. Species extinction is a natural part of the earth’s history. Yet scientists have revealed that human activity has increased the extinction rate by at least 100 times compared to the natural rate.

Forests as Important Bird Areas in Palestine

Palestine, as a part of the Eastern Mediterranean region in West Asia, consists of the most complicated ecosystem in the world. It comprises plants and animals from most of the Old World. In addition to the prolonged influence of human activities, several other factors account for the development of rich biodiversity, e.g., habitat, species, and genetic diversity.

Palestine is famous for its unique central location with respect to the three continents of Africa, Asia, and Europe, where there are an estimated 530 species of birds and 3,000 species of plants; hence it is considered a major and important route for migratory birds such as storks, pelicans, and raptors (including the Lesser Kestrel, Honey Buzzard, Lesser Spotted Eagle, and Egyptian Vulture), which use the Jordan Valley, Jericho, and Jerusalem mountain routes. It also corresponds with the criteria of Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Palestine, as Jericho is one of the major pathways during migration times as well as an important spot for residency and breeding birds. Vogelberingung

Vogelberingung hilft wildlebende Vögel zu untersuchen, indem individuell nummerierte und teilweise farbkodierte Metall- oder Plastikringe an den Füßen oder Flügeln angebracht werden. Durch das Beringen kann das Verhalten von einzelnen Vögeln über einen großen Zeitraum verfolgt werden, da wieder eingefangene Vögel identifiziert werden können. Untersucht werden unter anderem Vogelzug, Lebensdauer, Sterblichkeit, Ernährung und Fortpflanzung.

Dead Sea Sparrow

The Dead Sea Sparrow (Passer moabiticus), as its name suggests, is a breeding bird around the River Jordan, Dead Sea, and into Iraq, Iran and western Afghanistan. Breeding recorded in Cyprus (1981/1982) but is probably extinct there now Cyprus. It is migratory or dispersive, although the regular wintering grounds of this nomadic species are largely unknown, except that the eastern race winters in Pakistan. Flocks of the nominate western race have been found in winter further south in the Middle East.

Bird ringing list for spring 2007

from Octobor 2006 until now Palestine Wildlife Society has developed its scheme for bird ringing (banding) in palestine . So the ringed birds has been increased in number in the spring 2007, and all the birds has been caught in Jericho Station for monitoring the wildlife by the ringers: Baha' ishaq and Talal Bni Odeh.

Bird ringing is a scientific method for identifying birds individually and the term always implies the use of metal leg-rings, stamped or engraved with a serial number and the address of a recognized ringing organization. The numbered rings make it possible to recognize each bird individually if it is found dead (a recovery) or recaught (a retrap) at a later date. The term “ringing” is currently used in Britain, Europe and Africa, while “banding” is used in the Americas, Canada, Australia and most Asian countries.

JERICHO –Activities for the first Palestinian environment festival, sponsored by president Mahmoud Abbas, "22-25/3/2007 in Jericho . Sa’eb Erekat, chief negotiator for the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), mayor of Jericho, the governor of Jericho Dr. Sami Masllam, and the deputy minister of tourism and archaeology, Marwan al-Toubasi, Mr. Hazem Qumsiyeh the PWLS Chairman and other Representative Organization attended the opening ceremony.

من المهددات للتنوع الحيوي وخطر تأثير أنفلونزا الطيور في فلسطين:
خطر الصيد الجائر للطيور والحيوانات البرية

هناك العديد من التهديدات للتنوع الحيوي"البيولوجي في فلسطين" والذي يؤثر على الإنسان والحيوان على حد سواء..ومنها"التهديدات" ما قد يستطاع السيطرة عليها ومنها ما لا يستطيع التحكم به.. عاملان متناقضان.. من الصعب جدا السيطرة عليهما بشكل نهائي.. الأول: الصيد الجائر الذي يقوم به أفراد مجتمعنا وخاصة في مناطق الضفة الغربية وبعض أجزاء قطاع غزة من دون وعي أو حتى تنظيم.....

والثاني الاحتلال الإسرائيلي ومن خلال الجانب الظاهر للعالم بتدميره للمناطق الطبيعية والأثرية وبالتالي التأثر المباشر على الحياة البرية والتنوع الحيوي والغائب عن انتقاد المؤسسات العالمية المهنية لهذه الأعمال السلبية.
